A great night of cello work at the bench

photo 23 wonderful cellos at the bench tonight…..on the cradle is a beautiful Italian cello owned by Udi Bar-David of the Philadelphia Orchestra that needs some extensive varnish restoration. At the lower left is a fascinating English cello with a hint of more to it ( perhaps Panormo?) which belongs to Jeff Solow  – the prominant player and Professor at Temple. At the lower right is a fine Carlo Carletti cello from 1909  -I am preparing the mortise for the re-setting of the neck at the correct (i e higher) neck angle. Jeff will be the first one to explore it with the bolder, higher neck angle with the commensurate higher Belgian bridge to give it all the power it deserves.

You can’t ask for more for a nights work at the bench.
